Christmas 2012

I love Christmas.  I love the joyful spirit.  I love watching children singing Christmas songs while dressed as angels and shepherds.  I love having little children at my house whose anticipation grows by the minute.

I love the chance to talk to my children about the meaning of Christmas, and why we celebrate the birth of Christ.  This year, I have loved listening to my 2 year old, who not so long  ago was living in a Chinese orphanage saying, “Glory to God in the Highest Heaven, and peace on Earth to all God’s people”.  It makes me want to cry tears of joy each and every time.

This year I am also filled with joy and love for my wonderful husband, who is unbelievably thoughtful and giving.  More on that to come…

For now, Merry Christmas!  I wish you all a joyful, love filled day.

Christmas Preparation

We are in full swing of Christmas preparations around here, which is so fun.

We got our Christmas tree yesterday, and Z wouldn’t get out of the car.  He was too angry that we were participating in killing a tree.  He said that he wasn’t going to participate in making a tree our “dead slave for our Christmas”.  Wow.  He feels pretty strongly about it. I think that next year we need to look into getting one of the live trees that you re-plant after Christmas.  Maybe he would be okay with that.

We decorated our tree tonight, and for the first time ever all the kids were eager to participate.  That was a lot of chaos, but a lot of fun.  We now have a very crooked tree (apparently we bought it that way), with most of our ornaments on the bottom third of the tree.  Its not going to win any awards, but I’m pretty sure it is my favorite tree so far.

I sat down with D the other day to talk to him about what he wants for Christmas. Walking through the stores this year has really reminded me how much he has grown.  I keep seeing Toy Story things that he would have LOVED a couple of years ago when he was thinking about Toy Story every waking minute of every day.  I know that all of my kids have grown, and of course will change their Christmas list every year, but for some reason it really makes me sad when I see those toys.  I really miss that little guy. (And I know he is only 6, so he is still pretty little. ;) ) Anyway, I asked him what he wanted this year, and he said that he would like a Cheetah that wouldn’t bite any kids.  Oh geez.  I don’t even know where to buy a Cheetah!

Birthday Week Bonanza

Phew, just in time for Thanksgiving, we have completed a busy week of birthday celebrations as D turned 6 and Z turned 8.

2 class parties, 2 friend parties, 1 big family party, and we have 2 well celebrated boys.

D wanted a Power Rangers party, so we had 11 boys to our house for “Power Ranger Training Camp”.

Let me stress that these were 11 VERY energetic boys.  My friends shook their heads at me for having so many, but D is a social guy.  His little heart couldn’t bear to take anyone off the list, so we had to make it happen.

They had to pass various skill tests such as balance, teamwork, and strength.

Balance

Strength

Oh, and this happened.  The boys had a great time, but I am thanking my lucky stars that we had no injuries!

I think I passed my Power Ranger mom test. At least I hope so.  I sure do love that boy.

Z chose to have a rock climbing birthday to celebrate his 8th birthday.

Complete with a dirt cake.

He had a fantastic time playing with his friends.  He was one really happy guy.

With a very happy little brother to be included.

It really was a great week of celebrating my two favorite little guys, and remembering their entrance into our lives. Sometimes my heart could just burst.

Happy birthday boys!!!

Halloween 2012

It might be hard to tell from the picture, but I recently found a bat in my freezer.

You never know what you might find around this house.  It did remind me that I didn’t post a Halloween picture.

Halloween was so much fun with these guys.

2 pirates, a Power Ranger, and Dora the Explorer

All of the kids had a fantastic time running around the neighborhood with cousins and friends. Hannah was especially fun to watch as she wrapped her mind around the fact that Halloween related to candy. I think she thought that she was witnessing some kind of miracle.  It reminded me of Seinfeld saying, “You mean everyone that we know is just giving out candy???!”.
