We are in full swing of Christmas preparations around here, which is so fun.
We got our Christmas tree yesterday, and Z wouldn’t get out of the car. He was too angry that we were participating in killing a tree. He said that he wasn’t going to participate in making a tree our “dead slave for our Christmas”. Wow. He feels pretty strongly about it. I think that next year we need to look into getting one of the live trees that you re-plant after Christmas. Maybe he would be okay with that.
We decorated our tree tonight, and for the first time ever all the kids were eager to participate. That was a lot of chaos, but a lot of fun. We now have a very crooked tree (apparently we bought it that way), with most of our ornaments on the bottom third of the tree. Its not going to win any awards, but I’m pretty sure it is my favorite tree so far.
I sat down with D the other day to talk to him about what he wants for Christmas. Walking through the stores this year has really reminded me how much he has grown. I keep seeing Toy Story things that he would have LOVED a couple of years ago when he was thinking about Toy Story every waking minute of every day. I know that all of my kids have grown, and of course will change their Christmas list every year, but for some reason it really makes me sad when I see those toys. I really miss that little guy. (And I know he is only 6, so he is still pretty little. ) Anyway, I asked him what he wanted this year, and he said that he would like a Cheetah that wouldn’t bite any kids. Oh geez. I don’t even know where to buy a Cheetah!
